Smile of Hope from YPAC Jakarta

Name : Vanessa
Gender : Female
Diagnosis : Cerebral Palsy (CP)
Vanessa, a person with cerebral palsy, is currently undergoing speech therapy and is an active student at the YPAC Special Needs School (SLB) in Jakarta.
Vanessa's posture of frequently tilting her head back affects her swallowing ability.
She sometimes experiences difficulty swallowing and chokes while eating. Frequently tilting or dropping her head also makes eating less than optimal.
On the other hand, Vanessa's social skills are showing good progress. She appears more aware of her surroundings and often laughs.
Sensory-wise, Vanessa is more sensitive to auditory stimuli, while her visual responses through eye contact are still unable to focus on objects.
Currently, therapy includes massage and sensory stimulation to support oral motor function and articulation, as well as sound recognition stimulation, such as animal sounds. Given that Vanessa is now an adult, therapy focuses on maintaining existing abilities to prevent further decline.
Smile Hope from YSI Jakarta

Name : Ozora Ahsan Aditya (Ozora)
Gender : Male
Diagnosis : Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
Ozora joined YSI Jakarta as a beneficiary in August 2022. He was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a condition characterized by a lack of attention and excessive physical movement, resulting in difficulty producing
vowels and stringing words together in communication. He also experienced a lack of focus, a tendency to move quickly from place to place without a clear purpose, and delayed speech.
At the beginning of his mentoring, Ozora regularly underwent speech therapy and sensory integration/occupational therapy once a week to stimulate his speech organs and improve his ability to focus. Currently, Ozora continues to undergo sensory integration and occupational therapy to improve his focus and fine motor skills, such as holding a pencil and writing correctly.
After undergoing regular therapy, Ozora has shown positive progress. He has begun to communicate more fluently, can sit more still with increased focus duration, is more easily directed, and can interact and engage in simple communication more effectively.
